Charities and volunteer groups
There are literally hundreds of Charities and Volunteer groups operating across the Hounslow area. If you want to get involved in helping, or if you need help and support, it can be hard to find the right organization.
Community Information Guide
One place to start of the Community Information Guide(CIG), managed by The London Borough of Hounslow (https://cig.hounslow.gov.uk ). The CIG is an online directory of voluntary & community groups and organisations who provide services or activities for people in the London Borough of Hounslow (LBH).
It consists of a listing of all the voluntary, charity and other groups operating in the borough that LBH are aware of. It can take a little time to navigate through and find what you’re wanting for, but you can search by type of service, area, or keyword.
In addition, it has information about community buildings that are available to hire.
CarePlace
CarePlace is another web directory of local care and community services and how to pay for them. It covers the whole of London, rather than just LBH.
It explains its services as follows
“CarePlace is London’s centralised source for care and community services, information and guidance. First implemented in 2011, designed for London and with the engagement of over half of London’s boroughs, the directory contains thousands of useful services in London and beyond and gives you direct access to information about care and community services. It also contains a wealth of information and guidance on how to source local services and pay for them.
For members of the public (free service):
-
CarePlace provides a Directory of Services, Information and Guidance enabling direct access to local care and community services via a search facility with rating for CQC services that are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
-
You can register and save shortlists of services or bookmark information
-
CarePlace also has tools to help you asses your health and social care needs and financial situation, and will signpost you to appropriate services and information wherever possible.
-
You can also provide feedback about services that you have used”
